You haven't seen what nature can do until you've seen a volcano erupt. Short of that, you have to see a geyser.
The geyser intervals range from under 10 minutes (in the rainy season) to about an hour (during dry seasons). During the shorter intervals the eruptions are shorter and don't last as long. It really is a trade off. My favorite time of year is when the interval is in the 20 to 25 minute range. That's when you get the best bang for your buck, so to speak.
The grounds also include a video room with a short video about how the geyser correlates with earthquakes; some random live stock (Tennessee fainting goats, Jacob four horn sheep, and llamas); a nice little picnic area; and a bunch of random signs with history on the region.
The best time to be had is with a group of family and friends right around lunch time. Bring a picnic and enjoy. Kids seem to really dig the live stock.
